Plumtree Graidan secures Carlisle reserve intermediate championship and sells for 11,000gns

Having sold Plumtree Deus in Carlisle for 35,000gns, it was a fabulous result to return this month with a Deus son, Plumtree Graidan and win the reserve intermediate championship before going on to sell for 11,000gns.

Graidan, born June 2011, is out of Millington Concerto, a Mas Du Clo daughter, who was purchased in 2008 and is a daughter of the successful show cow Gaich Nutcracker. He changed hands at 11,000gns selling to Messrs T Common, Hexham, Northumberland.

Plumtree Deus son sells for 32,000

Congratulations to Colin and Elaine Lewis of the Garyvaughan herd in Welshpool, Powys, who sold the Plumtree Deus son, Garyvaughan Ginola for 32,000 to the recently established herd of Nick Layton and Dai Walters.

Ginola is the first son to be sold by the Lewis’ stock bull, Plumtree Deus, who was purchased at Carlisle in February 2010 for 35,000gns when standing reserve senior champion. Deus is by the prolific Cloughhead Umpire and is out of the Sympa daughter, Bankdale Amber.

April 2011-born Ginola is out of the Rocky daughter, Sarkley Dominica, and was initially spotted by Mr Layton at this year’s Royal Welsh Show where he stood third in a very strong young bull class behind his stable mate and first prize-winner Garyvaughan Gordon – also by Plumtree Deus. His performance figures combine growth and ease of calving with a beef value of LM+24 and a calving value of CV+1.

Bankdale Ambers sons average 25,000

We always knew Bankdale Amber would be the female to put us on the map, but now she’s really proving her worth as her first four bulls sold privately and at Society sales have now averaged 25,000.

Leading the way for us in Carlisle this month, at a sale which can only be described as phenomenal for the breed, was Plumtree Filbert. Born March 2010, he is by Cloughhead Umpire and is out of Amber. With a beef value of +32, he stood first at the National Limousin Show in Carlisle and is a full brother to the 35,000gns Plumtree Deus. He was sold to Messrs J Hunter and Sons, Northumberland.

Plumtree Farley, a son of Wilodge Vantastic out of Amber again then sold at 13,000gns. With a beef value of +32 he is a full brother to the 40,000 Plumtree Fantastic and sold to W and R Lawson, Workington, Cumbria. I’d like to wish both buyers the very best with their purchases and I look forward to hearing how their progeny perform for them.

Plumtree Fantastic sells to Gunnerfleet herd for 40,000

The continuing influence of leading sire Wilodge Vantastic on the Limousin breed has resulted in another five figure private sale. We are delighted to announce the sale of the March 2010-born Plumtree Fantastic for 40,000 to Ian Handley and family’s Gunnerfleet herd in Lancashire.

Fantastic  is out of one of  the herd's most prolific cows Bankdale Amber, a Sypma daughter out of  Princesse, who was the dam of the 35,000gns Plumtree Deus who sold in  Carlisle February 2010. He now joins the Gunnerfleet herd of Ian Handley and family.Speaking of the sale, Mr Cairns said: "Fantastic is by far the best bull I've  bred to date. He is a long, clean bull with tremendous muscling and  second thigh as well as excellent locomotion. He is a lovely natured  bull oozing style and character and has been a stand out in the herd  since the day he was born."
New owner Mr Handley added: "I was impressed with Fantastic from the minute I saw him, particularly for  such a young bull having so much natural muscle and style. Having seen  the dam, Bankdale Amber, as well as being impressed with Plumtree Deus  who I was under bidder on last year, I had no hesitation in buying this  bull. He will no doubt compliment the herd and we look forward to seeing progeny on the ground in due course."

Mr Handley added: "Wilodge Vantastic is certainly proving his worth across many herds producing  bulls with great length, depth and muscling."

Fantastic will run  in the 80-cow Gunnerfleet herd alongside Dolcorsllwyn Brynmor who was  purchased in February 2008 at Carlisle for 32,000gns.

Fantastic  will be going to stud for semen collection before joining the  Gunnerfleet herd in Ingleton, Lancashire. Semen will hopefully be  available for sale worldwide as of October/November this year.
